FINDING THE RIGHT LIPSTICK SHADE

Hey Beauties! :D

Do you often find yourself staring at all the different shades of lipstick and wonder which one will suit you? Well, since I haven't written a blog post on lips in ages, I thought it would be a great idea if I share some tips on how to choose the right lipstick shade for yourself! So keep reading if you want to find out!

So how do we decide what shade of lipstick to choose? I have to give credit to Raw Morris, as this is her tip which can be found in her book: Makeup The Ultimate Guide. Which is the BEST makeup book in the world. I definitely recommend buying it!

What does Rae say?

Here's the trick. If you absolutely have no idea, having two lipsticks sitting in front of you, and you have to choose one, like it or not! One is 'fuchsia pink', the other is 'tangerine orange'. Even if you detest both of them, you will find yourself detesting one less than the other. If you pick the 'fuchsia pink', then in most cases you suit and wear 'cool' colours, as pink itself is cool.
As Rae has stated, if you have picked the pink, then you should go for cool based colours. This means lipstick shades that have cool or blue undertone shades, cool reds, all pink shades, pink based nudes and pink based browns.

If you picked the 'tangerine orange', the opposite is true. You would tend to wear gold jewellery if you're colour-coorindinated, earthly clothing colours, creams instead of whites, burnt orange, caramels and even bright yellow.
So if you picked the orange you should go for orange brick reds, anything warm toned, browns, peachy nudes and bronze shades.

*Did you know that cool-coloured lip shades such as cool based reds, all pinks and wine colours will make your teeth look whiter. Whereas brown shades will make you teeth more yellow.

Ok, so we have tackled lipstick. What about lip gloss?

If you have naturally lined or wrinkled lips- don't overuse lip gloss. If you do, your gloss will "bleed". This means that you will have those fine vertical lines around your lips (not great). Only apply lip gloss in the center of your lips. This is applied for both normal lips and naturally lined lips.

Another no no, is applying foundation/ concealer on your lips. I know they create a nude lip look, but it will actually become cakey throughout the day. Basically, as Rae suggests, if you want a nude lip, just buy a nude lipstick!

Well, beauties I hope this post helped you in deciding what your next lipstick purchase will be.
